  • Poliya holds Infusion Training Course for the Istanbul University Composites Teams.

    Three Istanbul University composites teams: “Wind Blade”, “Telescope” and “Aircraft Hannover” project teams got hands on training building composite parts at Poliya’s R&D lab in Cerkezkoy. Materials Science, Mechanical and Chemical engineering students had chance to produce resin infused composite parts during the training.

  • Poliya Appoints Second-generation CEO

    Istanbul, 31 October 2013 — Today, in a statement, Poliya management announced the family’s second generation, Ozgur Cakar, will be assigned to the role of CEO.

    Ismet Cakar, founder of Poliya—recently named one of Turkey's Next Top 500 Industrial Enterprises—and a well-respected innovator in the composites industry said this is an important day for his company,  their partners, and for the customers they serve

    Over the last 30 years, Poliya has grown to be a leader in the field by focusing on Research & Development. Cakar underlined this point by saying “We founded this family company by employing only the best scientific knowledge and ethical practices. We pride ourselves on maintaining these core values above all else. I am sure the momentum of our successes thus far will continue with this next generation of leadership.”

    With admiration and pride, the young CEO of Poliya, Ozgur Cakar, issued the following words: “I am truly honored to be able to both continue my family’s business and be a part of Europe's fastest growing composite resin brand.  While doing my part to further the reputation and successes of Poliya, it is my responsibility to retain the integrity of our core corporate values.  Our primary objective is to become one of Turkey's Top 500 Industrial Enterprises.     Prior to Poliya, Ozgur held management positions with Viacom, Chapman University and other U.S. companies. Since 2012 he has served as a member of the Executive Committee at Poliya.  Ozgur holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Yildiz Technical University and an MBA from San Diego State University.  He is recently joined in Turkey by his wife of five year, Eve Alita Cakar.

  • Poliya Expands Its Production to Russia

    Istanbul, March 11 2013 - Today, according to strategic expansion plans, Poliya announced it is starting production in Russia. Set to begin in May 2013, Poliya branded products will be manufactured in Russia in addition to their factories in Turkey and Italy.

    Commenting on today's news, Buelent Oeztuna, CEO of Poliya, stated "This is an important step for Poliya. Our newest location in Russia means this production plant will be much closer to a large number of up and coming and existing composites manufacturers in the region including Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan,Belarus, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Georgia, Armenia,Tajikistan,Kyrgyzstan and Moldova. This expansion will allow Poliya to not only provide the customized polyester and vinyl ester resins we are best known for but also allow improved logistics, faster response times and lower costs over all."

    This announcement marks another key milestone in Poliya's sustainable growth following the acquisition of Cam Elyaf Resins in 2011 as well as expanded manufacturing operations in Italy in 2012.

  • Poliya Hosted Composite Wind Turbine Blade Seminar

    On May 11th and 12th, Poliya and Turkish Glass fiber Reinforced Plastics Manufacturers Association co-hosted a training seminar about repair and maintenance of composite wind turbines. Istanbul, 12 May 2011 - Wind energy is one of the most important alternative energy sources. While the wind energy industry continues to grow in the region, so does many supplementary products and service lines. The two day training program primarily focused on frequently encountered mechanical and physical rotor blade problems including: edge delamination, separation, lightning damage, surface issues and leading edge erosion which can significantly affect generation efficiency, sometimes causing a complete halting of energy production. The workshop participants were trained in deep structural, monolithic, sandwich laminate and surface repair.

  • One More Step For The Environment From Poliya; No More Packaging Waste.

    Poliya brings new inliner system (plastic bag) for environmentally risky color paste and colored gelcoat buckets in order to eliminate direct product contact with the packaging. Poliya will be rolling out new inliner packages in February 2011 for all colored gelcoats and color paste buckets except for white colors. Users will be able to stir products without any difficulties thanks to the high-quality, rigid inliners. Inliners will also help to reduce waste, minimize disposal costs and reduce the risk of leakages.

    Poliya hosted a two-day seminar on composites at its Cerkezkoy plants between 20-21 November 2009. Co-hosted by Yucel Composites and Magnum Venus Plastech (MVP) the new L-RTM system and equipment was introduced.
    Poliya Polyester announced numerous new products including Zero-Shrink tooling (molding) resin Polipol 321 and New Surfacing systems. Poliya would like to thank those who have participated and contributed to the success of this seminar.

  • New Pearlescent Colors for Button Industry

    Poliya introduces, Polipigment Pearlescent 101 - a synthetic pearl paste designed for button producers. Polipigment Pearlescent 101 does not contain any lead or phthalates therefore it complies with the European norm-productions. You can obtain pearl texture by adding 1-3% w/w over unsaturated polyester resin. Lead-free pearl solutions can darken under UV light over time. Although Polipigment Pearlescent 101 does not darken as much as its equivalents, it is recommended to use appropriate UV absorbers in the button formulations.

  • Poliya Expands Polijel Gelcoat Series with Antibacterial Option

    Polijel Anti bacterial option is the latest edition to Polijel gelcoat series. This high-tech option for Polijel incorporates antimicrobial metal ions, making the surface exceptionally hygienic, sterile and low-maintenance. Anti bacterial option is available for Polijel 213 but can be customized for other gelcoat types also. Anti bacterial option is specially designed for kitchen counter tops, hospitals, laboratories and industrial kitchens as well as industrial food processing plants where hygiene is the top priority.
    The anti-microbial mechanism starts with the presence of moisture. The surface releases metal ions gradually, which has an ability to bond to the cellular enzymes of microbes. This inhibits the enzyme activity of the cell wall, membrane and nucleic acids so that microbes are destroyed.

  • New Politix Bonding Pastes and Structural Adhesives

    Poliya introduces new Politix bonding pastes and structural adhesives for Marine, Transportation, Pipeline-Tank and Building-Construction industries. Poliya offers new alternative bonding pastes for both GRP and filled composite applications.
    This new bonding paste system is based on high-tech polyester and vinyl ester structure. You can select the most suitable adhesive system depending on your applications. Types include all resin based or glass-fiber and filled adhesive systems.

  • Poliya Introduces Poligranul Natura Ready-Mix Solid Surface Chips

    Poliya expanded its solid surface product line with the new Poligranul Natura ready mix solid surface chips. The Natura series will help users to increase production speed and color size consistency among different batches.
    The granules used for formulating Poligranul Natura series were produced with the highest quality ISO/NPG, acrylic modified unsaturated polyester resin which is very resistant to UV-light, thermal shocks, and chemicals together with inert and chemically resistant fillers and the highest quality pigments. Natura series are pre-formulated ready mixtures of Poligranul's in the Poliya range of products for granite effect artificial stone or FRP designs.

    Poliya establishes Composite Technologies Application Center - CTAC which will deliver advanced methods and tools for composites manufacturing and design, as well as optimization of customers' product and production systems.
    From Wind turbine blades to Infusion applications for Marine industry, Poliya CTAC is both a training and a development center for Poliya's customers.

  • Poliya Supports Saitem - Saguar Solar Energy Car

    Poliya is supporting Saitem- Saguar with composite resins and materials. The project takes place in the Community of Advanced Technologies Application of SAU ( SAITEM) roof. The first solar car named SAGUAR and at the Formula G 2006 inter-universities solar car contest organized by TUBITAK, SAGUAR having been awarded as the second one of general classification and private award of the jury for the best project was exhibited at Autoshow.
    Currently team is working on Saguar NL1 for World solar challenge 2009 - Australia and Saguar X7 for Tubitak Formula G 2008, respectively.
